Our Mission

The mission statement of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly is to improve upon the quality of life of the people. This is to be achieved through harnessing of human and material resources, effective co-ordination of programmes and projects for the provision basic infrastructure, economic and social services to the people.

Our Vision

The vision of the Sawla-tuna-Kalba District assembly is to develop capacity and ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the productive sector through sustained provision of the needed social, economic and technical infrastructure and the creation of an enabling environment for private sector participation in development / production within the District.

Sawla DCE test resident for coronavirus‏

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region has taken it upon himself to test a resident of Sawla for the coronavirus sparking an intense debate in the Community. According to some residents who witnessed the unfortunate incident, the DCE’s actions are causing heated conversations in the area with some accusing him of deliberately causing fear and panic. Sawla DCE rescues another woman accused of witchcraft from being lynched

District Chief Executive for Sawla Tuna Kalba District Hon Lawal Tamimu has rescued a 58-year-old woman from being lynched by a group of men and women who accused her of being a witch.The DCE who made this known said he picked up intelligence from a source that a group of men and women were going to beat up the 58-year-old woman based on accusations that she has bewitched them and contributed to their failure in life. . Sawla Tuna Kalba: NHIA Suspends Manager Over Rape Allegation

The NHIA in a statement released by its corporate affairs directorate said the move is to allow for investigations into the alleged rape case reported by a nurse at the Soma CHPS compound.“In the meantime, the district manager has been asked to step aside. District Profile

The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District was carved out of the then Bole District in 2004. Indeed, the District was one of the twenty-eight (28) districts created in that year. As one of the twenty-Six (26) districts in the Northern Region, the district is located in the western part of the Northern Region, between latitudes 8o 40’ and 9o 40’ North and longitudes 1 o 50’ and 2 o 45’ west.

The District shares common boundaries with Wa West District and Wa East to the North, Bole District to the South, West Gonja District to the East and La Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso to the West. It has a total land area of about 4,601 square kilometers out of the total area of 74,984 kilometers of the Northern Region, representing six point one four percent (6.14%) of the total land mass of the Northern Region. Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District capital, Sawla is about 210 kilometers North West of Tamale, the Northern Regional capital in the Republic of Ghana. Read More ..
